I dont understand why people believe in god?
Can anyone elaborate?

As a philosopher, I can see why. There is no truth to be found in empirical knowledge, and thats all science is based off. Do you really trust science because your senses support evidence for it? Perceptions are misleading and offer no truth but a subjective one. Just because we agree subjectively on knowledge, does not make it the end all, be all. Religion offers, at least a tease, of objective truth. Of course it can never give us one, rather it assures us there is one. Its called Faith, after all. Religion calls this ultimate truth God, and in many theological descriptions of God, it is philosophically sound with what describes an ultimate truth. The ultimate truth being that it is One, it is the Alpha and Omega, it is the creator. Call it what you want, religion attempts to remind us that there is indeed a truth, in an all be it, traditionally corrupt and unenlightening way.
